The contract will tell you the rent due date (for example, the 1st, 5th or 10th of the month).

Typically:

• the first rent payment for the period starting on the start rent date is due on or before that due date.

• In many cases, the first rent is paid before or at the beginning of the first month, so rent is paid in advance for the period that is starting.

Example:

• Start rent date: September 1

• Rent due date: every 1st of the month

• First rent for September is due on or before September 1.

Always follow the exact rule written in your Tenancy Agreement.

Usually, your move-out date is the same or very close to the end rent date in the contract.

If you leave:

• on or just before the end rent date → this matches the contract.

• earlier than the end rent date, without an agreed early termination →

  • you may still be responsible for rent until the end rent date,

  • unless the landlord and agency approve different terms (for example, a replacement tenant).

Always check your contract if you are considering leaving before the end rent date.

In many cases:

• the start rent date and move-in date are the same,

• for example: contract from September 1, you move in September 1.

However, it can also happen that:

• the start rent date is earlier than your physical arrival,

• for example: contract from September 1, you arrive September 5.

In that case:

• rent still starts from September 1,

• the landlord is keeping the apartment only for you from that date,

• you pay rent from the start rent date, not from the day you choose to arrive.

The end rent date is the last day of your rental period in the contract.

Up to and including the end rent date:

• you are responsible for paying rent, and

• you have the right to use the property, under the agreed rules.

After the end rent date, the contract ends (unless you sign an extension or a new agreement).

The start rent date is the date when your obligation to pay rent begins.

From the start rent date:

• the landlord is keeping the property reserved and available only for you, and

• you are responsible for paying rent, even if you decide to arrive a bit later.

The start rent date is written in your Tenancy (Lease) Agreement and usually matches (or is very close to) your planned move-in date.

You do not pay the service fee just for sending preferences or asking for advice.

You pay the service fee only when you book a specific property from our offer or you extend your stay in one of our properties.

And after we confirm all the details with your landlord.

If our current portfolio:

• doesn’t match your dates,

• doesn’t fit your budget, or

• doesn’t have the features you need,

then, unfortunately, we may not be the right solution at that particular moment.

You can:

• ask us if there are new properties coming soon,

• check back later to see if our offer has changed,

• combine our options with other channels you are using.

We prefer to be honest and transparent rather than promise to “find something” when we know we only work with properties that are already in our system.

No. HomeInZagreb does not search the whole market on individual request for each tenant.

We work with a fixed portfolio of verified apartments and rooms from our partner landlords. You choose your accommodation from the properties we already have in our listing, instead of us going out and searching the city for a custom apartment.

In short:

• Ventilate regularly, even in winter (short, strong airing).

• Heat rooms to a reasonable temperature, especially those you use or where you store things.

• Dry clothes carefully and ventilate more when you do. Do not dry clothes on radiators.

• Clean regularly and don’t ignore small spots.

• Report serious or persistent issues early, with photos.

By doing this, you:

• protect your health,

• protect the property of the landlord,

• protect your deposit,

• and make your stay more comfortable and problem-free.

This is usually a bad idea.

A room that is:

• never heated
• never ventilated
• and perhaps contains furniture or clothes
• becomes a perfect place for mould.

Even if you use only part of the apartment, all rooms need some ventilation, and in cold months at least minimal heating, to avoid serious humidity problems.
